The answer to “Who is a website owner?” seems obvious. The website owner is the person who owns the website!
Website owner = small business owner
The Smarter Website Owner is focussed on the world of the small business owner. In this world the small business owner is almost always the legal website owner.
A broader concept of ownership
The concept of ‘ownership’ extends beyond the legal and commercial sense of the word. The website owner also needs to exert leadership and direction over the business’s web presence.
Without this sort of ownership a website will not achieve its potential. Only in larger organisations with big budgets can parts of this key role be delegated or outsourced. Even when these roles are outsourced the switched on website owner still exerts strategic direction.
Other types of website owner
The website owner may also be a person in the organisation who is deemed to be responsible for the management and day-to-day direction of the website. Again, despite performing many of the roles of the website owner the ‘web presence buck’ still stops with the business owner.
Do you really ‘own’ your website?
So given this broader definition of website ownership are you ‘owning’ your website? If not change your mindset and start leading your website in a more successful direction. The Smarter Website Owner course helps you do this – sign up for a course here.
